Mission Creek Week 6

May 25, 2015

Well transfers are this week again. Crazy! Me and Elder Reimschussel are both staying but Elder Reimschussel will become a District Leader. So it should be a great time.

Had some crazy weather this week. On Saturday night there were a bunch of flood warnings then there was even a tornado warning. Power went out and was out most of Sunday as well so church at Mission Creek was canceled. But luckily Fort Sam had power so we still had church there.

There was 7 investigators at Fort Sam so we had a giant discussion lesson type thing. It was pretty awesome. Still working with a couple of promising people as well. But Pvt. Rauchfuss from Fort Sam is going to be baptized this Saturday. As well Crystal and her 2 kids in Kerrville are being baptized on Saturday as well. I'm super excited for that.

The big flood of missionaries from the age change is going home this transfer so a lot of areas are going to get changed so they can accommodate a lot less missionaries so that should be interesting to see what happens.

Thats all the exciting stuff that's happened this week. We are going to a huge BBQ later which should be awesome.

Have a great week, love y'all!

Mission Creek Week 5

May 18, 2015

This was a pretty good week. It rained most of the week and apparently it is going to rain all this week as well. So that should be pretty fun.

So this week we found out that we will be getting IPads. Have a training for them this Wednesday and then they will be distributed during the next transfer. I am super excited for that. This transfer is pretty much over so that isn't too far away. Crazy how fast time goes!

We had exchanges again this week. This time I stayed in Mission Creek. Then we also had a Zone Meeting and then a Stake Conference as well. So there was a lot of learning this week. Learned all sorts of things. One training we had during Zone Meeting was about answering questions. It was pretty simple, either you know the answer or you don't. And if you know the answer then answer it, if not just pull out 1 Nephi 13:22 and you are set.

We met a few awesome people this week. They were really interested so now we just need to keep working with them. See where that goes. They both have families as well so hopefully they also become involved.

Love and miss y'all! Have a great week!

Mission Creek Week 4!

May 11, 2015

Happy Mother's Day!

Well this will probably be a pretty short letter because I can't think of what happened this week.

This area is still doing great. It was a pretty normal week just going around and trying to teach people. We did meet this guy named Lawrence who was pretty awesome. He is this crazy black guy who claims to have all sorts of crazy things. It was pretty fun talking to him though.

The Fort Sam Branch is still awesome. There is a couple of returned missionaries in training there right now who are still being great missionaries. We had to give them a bunch of pamphlets and Book of Mormons to give out.

Also talked to the family yesterday, that was awesome.

Sorry for the short letter.

Have a great week! Love and miss y'all!

Mission Creek Week 3

May 4, 2015

This week was pretty good. It has been pretty hot most of the time. I am pretty scared for how hot it will be in the summer. Cause apparently it isn't even that hot right now.

We had exchanges this week. So I went to Highland Hills with Elder Wanlass. That was lots of fun. Highland Hills is a Spanish area so got to use lots of Spanish. But I think the best part was this guy named Jose. Every Friday he cooks taco's for people. So we went there and it was the best thing I have ever seen. He would cook these giant pieces of meat on a grill then all the grease would drain into this other part. Then he would dip the tortillas in the grease then cook those. Then he would pull out his giant butcher knife and go crazy on the meat. It was amazing. Best tacos I have ever had.

For some reason almost everyone we ran into this week only spoke Spanish. So we ended up having a lot of lessons in Spanish. So that was pretty cool.

It is amazing how fast some people will recognize the importance of the Gospel. I love it when we teach someone and they just understand everything and are ready to accept the message. Its the best. But a lot of times it takes a lot more time...

Hope y'all have a great week! Nos Vemos!

Mission Creek Week 2

April 27, 2015

San Antonio is still awesome. We have no more miles for the car so we have been biking a lot. Its lots of fun. It seems that you are always wet. Either its super hot and you are sweating or its really humid. Or both at the same time.

This week was pretty good. One day we were biking and then it just started pouring rain. A lot of rain. Turned the streets into little rivers it was awesome. We got soaked but it was pretty cool.

There is a lot of good things happening in this area. There is a lot of Recent Converts that we meet with. And we have a couple of Investigators who are doing really well. Just have a few things they need to work through.

We meet all sorts of people. Majority of them speak English and Spanish and I have noticed that a lot of people just pretend not to know English. Its pretty funny. It is a lot of fun.

It is kind of weird covering the Military Branch as well. We only go to Sacrament meeting in Mission Creek then we have to head up to Fort Sam. But the Fort Sam Branch is awesome. Yesterday one of the members who were assigned to speak didn't show up. So I got called to speak 5 minutes before I had to speak. That was interesting...

That's pretty much all the interesting things for this week. Love and miss y'all!
